HummHive

Full Stack Developer · Web3

The front end of a decentralized, offline-first publishing platform. Five years leading UI development for a product where creators own their data end to end.

Overview

HummHive is a decentralized, offline-first publishing protocol: creators write and store their work locally, then share it publicly or through encrypted, key-based access, with no central servers, tracking, or algorithms. I led front-end development for five years, from 2020 to early 2025. My work was the interface. I built the writing and publishing experience, refactored the front-end codebase to TypeScript, and chose MobX after evaluating Redux and Recoil so each plugin could keep its own isolated store. Along the way I built the publishing plugins of that era, connecting STORJ storage, SendGrid newsletters, and Netlify static publishing; the product's stack has since evolved past some of them. I also wrote the technical documentation, delivered product demos to investors, and built the [humm.earth](https://humm.earth/) marketing site. The protocol has not launched publicly. The team continues building toward it, publishing open progress updates through the product itself.
